woman, who was flying from Dubai to JFK Airport, New York, was sexually
molested by another passenger after she took medication to help her
sleep and he (accused) later told flight attendants that she had
“enjoyed it.”
The
woman had fallen into deep sleep after ingesting anti-anxiety
medication an hour into the flight. When she woke up, Quraishi, had
asked her, “whether she had a good nap.”
The victim –
name withheld – told authorities that she was seated next to Nadeem
Quraishi on a flight into Queens on Monday and that she fell asleep
after taking anti-anxiety medication, a Brooklyn federal court
complaint.
According to the complaint, when she awoke, Quraishi allegedly asked her “whether she had a good nap.”
She
became aware of the assault when she noticed her hand lotion, which she
placed in the seat pocket in front of her was missing. She then noticed
lotion was “spread on her arms, chest, and up her legs.” She walked to
the bathroom and felt sore, and observed “her underwear had been shifted
and that lotion was in her vaginal area and on her underwear.”
After
returning to her seat, the woman asked Qureishi about her lotion and he
handed it over to her, she immediately reported the incident through
tears, to the flight attendants.
When apprehended, 42 year old
Quraishi, who sat next to her in Economy class, admitted to touching the
lady and brazenly said she “needed it” and “enjoyed it because she did
not resist.” He also added, “it happened to him as a child.”
Quraishi was arrested on arrival at JFK – John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, where the case is in federal court.
He was then released on $50,000 bond and will reappear at a later date.
