According to Sport Mediaset, Inter coach Robert Mancini has called Pirlo and tried to convince him to return to Europe.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport say Man City are also in the race to sign the Italian.
Pirlo left Juventus last summer to move to the MLS and recently suggested he will not be returning to play in Europe.
