Akinwunmi Ambode has been declared the winner of Lagos’s APC
Primaries with a wide margin of 3735 votes, after voting and counting
finished late into the evening in Lagos state.
Reports began to filter out before the end of voting that Ambode was to win the vote – as he was reported to have been supported by Bola Tinubu, a former Lagos state Governor and heavy-weight politician in the state. The current governor – Babatunde Fashola – was reported to have supported other candidates and did not attend the Primaries.
Ambode is a former Accountant General for Lagos state. On his Twitter Page Akinwunmi Ambode described himself as “an Accountant, Administrator, Public Finance Expert, a retired Civil Servant who served Lagos State meritoriously for 27 years.”
Despite a big push in Lagos state by PDP and the rumoured split in the state party over the candidates for the Primaries – it is widely expected that APC will win the 2015 Lagos state election.
